The iDS team brings experience from within the industry, corporate legal departments and law firms, having worked on some of the largest reviews in U.S. litigation history. Over the years, our team has logged time on hundreds of matters involving processing and document review of hundreds of millions of documents. From planning to execution, we draw u pon our expertise to provide workflow recommendations, culling suggestions, and creative search term analytics solutions that can lead to review acceleration, cost reduction, and risk mitigation.

Planning. Whether your dispute involves highly confidential information across hundreds of custodians or is simply a one-custodian, first-pass relevance review, choosing the right tool can be critical. Different tools have different strengths. Our team has hands-on experience with most commercial data processing and review platforms. As such, we are often called upon to offer practical advice about underlying technology, reliability, ease-of-use, and feature sets that may work well for a particular matter.

Process Management. iDS project management protocols lead to the development of effective controls that give counsel constant visibility into reviewer productivity and review progress. Project reporting includes data loading progress, reviewer efficiency, document decisions, production tracking, and other metrics. Search Term Analytics. Integrated into iDS’ standard e-Discovery and review practices is a methodology and accompanying tools that allow you to focus reducing discovery costs. Our methodology pairs measurable precision and recall with attorney review and search term development resulting in a defensible process that reduces costs and risk. In actual cases, our approach has resulted in the reduction of review time by more than 50 percent and overall discovery related costs by 80 percent. The process is transparent, interactive, and allows iDS to determine the most precise terms, while eliminating or modifying terms that do not target responsive materials.

Review Platform. RelativityTM is a powerful, yet easy-to-use litigation support platform that is attracting some of the world’s biggest firms. Its innovative Relativity Analytics feature uses advanced mathematical modeling to identify where ideas and concepts intersect within documents. Relativity Analytics provides powerful advanced analytic capabilities such as clustering, identification of documents with similar content, conceptual keyword sampling, automatic foldering, foreign language detection, and advanced foreign for double-byte languages with Unicode characters. It also allows reviewers to make bulk decisions and assignments based on conceptually similar document groups. These features provide Relativity with the power to handle your largest and most complex reviews. Relativity allows for Boolean, Natural Language, and Bayesian Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) searching and clustering to further save time and money during the review process. Relativity is an enterprise level application that can handle 10, 100 or even 500 concurrent reviewers on a single project database. We offer two secure hosting environments, including a Citrix VPN Solution paired with RSA Dual Authentication.

Foreign Languages. Working with non-English character sets present challenges throughout the e-Discovery lifecycle (identification, search, collection, processing and review). Therefore, e-Discovery efforts related to non-English data should be methodical and systematic to ensure that potentially responsive data are identified. Additional issues arise when multiple document encodings are utilized within an organization. Not only is the primary language encoding of concern, but each language’s encoding requires special consideration when crafting search terms and executing the searches. iDS has experience with OCRing, processing, hosting, searching, and analyzing the following languages: Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Finnish, Norwegian (2 dialects), German, Arabic, Dutch, French, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and English. We also cover machine translation for most languages.

Security. iDS hosts Relativity in a hardened Tier 1 data center accessible only through encrypted HTTPS protocols. Relativity employs a highly granular security architecture to control the user environment. Case administrators set permissions by user and user groups. Security settings control access to individual documents, document groupings, data fields, redactions, highlights, annotations, TIFF on the fly, and printing. Even user access can be controlled by IP address. Relativity allows the same collection of data to be viewed in a limited format by experts or in an expanded format by the case team, eliminating the need for multiple iterations of the same database.
